What is that to you? You follow me…

A few months ago, I was grumbling about some people. I mean they were really aggravating me! I was thinking things like, “I thought they were anointed! Why are they acting like that?” Well, the Lord let that go on for a little while and then He got my attention. It seemed that “out of nowhere” I started thinking about a passage in the last chapter of John.

By this time, Jesus has died and has been resurrected from the dead. Peter decided to go fishing and a few of the other disciples decided to go as well. Later, Jesus shows up on the shore and John realizes that it was Him. Peter jumps into the water and swims to shore and the others come to the shore in the boat. They have a meal together and Jesus begins to talk to Peter. He asks him, “Do you love me?” three times. Previously, Peter had denied Him three times. Peter answers Jesus, “Yes” each of the three times. Then Jesus talks to Peter about the end of his life. John 21:20-23 says,

“Then Peter, turning around, saw the disciple whom Jesus loved following, who also had leaned on His breast at the supper, and said, Lord, who is the one who betrays You?’ Peter, seeing him, said to Jesus, But Lord, what about this man?’ Jesus said to him, If I will that he remain till I come, what is that to you? You follow Me.’ Then this saying went out among the brethren that this disciple would not die. Yet Jesus did not say to him that he would not die, but,’If I will that he remain till I come, what is that to you?” (NKJV)

Well like I said earlier, the Lord had my attention! I am not supposed to allow other people’s actions to move me out of love. I mean, come on, He entrusted me with a ministry and said to call it Faith Through Love Ministries! Faith works through love. He was telling me, “Steve, what is that to you. You follow Me.” And to be transparent with you, he has had to remind me a few times since then.

Let us not allow the actions of other people to move us out of love. Thank God we do not have to do this in our own strength. The same Spirit that raised Christ from the dead dwells in us! (Romans 8:11) If we will yield to the Holy Spirit in us, He will assist us in staying in love with people. Yeah, even those that you are thinking about right now!

Don’t Let Your Dreams Die…

As you can see it has been many years since my first blog post. Why? You may ask…  I have never liked to journal or write down my thoughts. Also, life has taken many turns since the creation of our website.  We relocated to a new city, started new jobs, purchased our first home and, well you know, life happened.

Over the past few months, the Lord has been encouraging me to start some blogs. Yes, me, the person who does not like to journal. He sure knows how to stretch us. So, this is the second “first” blog for me. It is my plan to continue on a “regular” basis, maybe not daily or even weekly, but it will happen.

The title of this blog is “Don’t Let Your Dreams Die”.  I titled that because when God gives you a dream there is no expiration date.  God gave Steve the vision of Faith Through Love Ministries in 2002, 18 years ago and yet it is not “fully functioning”. Why has it taken so long? The same answer as above, life happened.  Have we procrastinated in some areas? Yes!  Do we mean to procrastinate? No!  The one thing we have been consistent on is not letting the dream die. Has it been easy? Of course not.  There have been many times we wanted to give up and just live our lives but when God gives you a desire and a ministry He will continue to encourage you to bring it to life no matter how long it takes. The Word says,

“Take delight in the Lord, and he will give you your heart’s desire.” Psalm 37:4 NLT

I see this verse two different ways. The first is what most people read. That the Lord will give you anything you desire or dream – emphasis on YOU.  Your wants.  Let’s look again. Do we want our desires and dreams to come from Him? Of course we do, but how do we make sure they are coming from the right place? By taking delight in Him, and then he will give us the desires that our hearts have. Make sense?  Read the paragraph again!

Getting back to Faith Through Love Ministries. That “desire” came from the Lord to Steve and therefore it is a dream that will not die as long as we are delighting in the Lord and trusting him to do things that are difficult in the natural. One example is us buying a house 6 months ago.  That is a blog for another day but believe me it was only by trusting God that it happened.  I sit here now, writing this blog on our patio, watching God’s beautiful creation – a dream I had almost given up on.

How do you keep your dreams alive?

  1. Take delight in the Lord – spend time with him and trust him, no matter what.
  2. Take time to find out what desires he is giving you – car, home, ministry, marriage; whatever it is, if it is from Him it can never die as long as you trust him.
  3. Take action when it is the right time. Also, be willing to not take action when it is the wrong time. Ask me how I know!!!
  4. Write down your dreams. Vision boards are extremely popular right now so if you like that idea then make one. It can be as simple as a list of things and as creative as a whole wall of pictures. Just do “you” and don’t try to be someone else.
  5. Revisit them often and spend time with the Lord talking about them. Don’t I mean “praying”? Nope!  I mean talking to Him.  Don’t be so “high church” about your time with him.  Just BE with him.
  6. Finally, do what you can do with what you have. Luke 16:10 says, “Whoever can be trusted with very little can also be trusted with much…” (NIV)

If you have a dream/desire that God has given you, we would love to stand with you and believe it will happen.  Click HERE and tell us about it.

Blessings always,

So Jesus answered and said to them

So Jesus answered and said to them, “Have faith in God. For assuredly, I say to you, whoever says to this mountain, ‘Be removed and be cast into the sea,’ and does not doubt in his heart, but believes that those things he says will be done, he will have whatever he says. Therefore I say to you, whatever things you ask when you pray, believe that you receive them, and you will have themMark 11:23-24

Jesus is the one who originally said this not any preacher or evangelist you’ve ever heard. It was true then and it’s true now.

How Safe Are We (More On Being Spirit Led)

I saw these words on a newspaper stand as I was walking into a convenient store a few years ago. In bold print the question was asked, “How safe are we?” The first thing that came to my heart was that depends entirely on me. It is not just up to God whether or not I am  protected. He always does His part. The question is am I doing my part? Let’s look at what we can do concerning our safety.

First we must renew our minds to what the Word says about our safety and protection.  Joshua 1:9 says in the latter part of the verse that “the Lord your God is with you wherever you go.” Deuteronomy 28:9-10 says, “The Lord will establish you as a holy people to Himself, just as He has sworn to you, if you keep the commandments of the Lord your God and walk in His ways. Then all peoples of the earth shall see that you are called by the name of the Lord, and they shall be afraid of you.”

Proverbs 1:23 says, “but whoever listens to me will live in safety and be at ease, without fear of harm.” Isaiah 54:13-17 All your children shall be taught by the Lord, and great shall be the peace of your children. In righteousness you shall be established; you shall be far from oppression, for you shall not fear; and from terror, for it shall not come near you. Indeed they shall surely assemble, but not because of Me. Whoever assembles against you shall fall for your sake. Behold, I have created the blacksmith who blows the coals in the fire, who brings forth as instrument for his work; and I have created the destroyer that destroys. No weapon formed against you shall prosper, and every tongue that rises against you in judgment you shall condemn. This is the heritage of the servants of the Lord, and their righteousness is from Me, says the Lord.

Renew your mind to what the Word says concerning your protection. There are more verses than we can cover right here concerning this subject so dig into the Word and find out what it says about protection.

God has given us a commandment to not be afraid. The first part of Joshua 1:9 says, “Have I not commanded you? Be strong and of good courage; do not be afraid, nor be dismayed, for the Lord your God is with you wherever you go.” In Matthew 14:22-33 Peter begins to sinks when he is afraid. It’s what you do with what you see that causes you to walk or sink. Many people say a little fear is ok. Not if God commanded us not to. Many people confuse fear with the wisdom of God.  It shouldn’t be fear that tells us not to walk on the edge of a cliff, the wisdom of God should be telling you that.

Over 100 times in the Word God tells us not to fear. If we seek after the wisdom of God He will direct our steps. The safest place you can be is in the will of God. Obtaining His wisdom (renewing our mind) and refusing to fear is critical to your protection.

Being led by the Spirit is critical to your protection. How can you be led by the Spirit on the go? Sooner or later “on the go” has to stop. Psalm 46:10 says, “Be still, and know that I am God.” Psalm 4:4 Stand in awe and sin not; commune with your own heart upon your bed, and be still. Learning how to get still, and learning how to get quiet, and learning how to wait on the Lord is something one develops in. Meditation has to do with setting your thoughts upon the Lord and His things and turning your heart towards Him.  Keeping your mind and your heart on Him.

If you do that for any length of time you become more aware of Him. Which makes it easy for Him to communicate with you, whatever He wants to. You may get physically still but be thinking about all kind of things.  That’s not what I’m talking about. If you haven’t done it much it is a bit of a challenge to keep your mind on Him. Especially if you haven’t been very disciplined with your mind, your mind will be bouncing off the walls.

One of the toughest things you will ever do is “nothing”. You can get your body still and your mind be racing at 90mph. One characteristic of the enemy is restlessness. God doesn’t get into a rush. His patience is awesome! If you operate in the Spirit of God you operate in peace.  Your not restless, your restful.

Do you know what the principle key to this thing is? It’s what you think on!  Isaiah 26:3—“You will keep him in perfect peace, whose mind is stayed on you, because he trusts in You.” Your mind is your mind. You can think on what you want to. If you keep your mind on Him all the time you’re going to walk in peace.

How safe are we?   It depends a whole lot on our cooperation with God.  You don’t have to fear drive by shootings. You don’t have to fear terrorists. You don’t have to fear biological warfare. Know what the Word says. Believe what the Word says and get as close as you can to the Holy Spirit. This is called the secret place of the Most High.

Being Holy Spirit Led

I want to talk about being led by the Spirit of God in this article. As children of God we have Holy Spirit dwelling within us. Greater is He that is in you than he that is in the world. (1John 4:4) If you have believed in your heart that God raised Jesus from the dead and have confessed Jesus is your Lord (Romans 10:9-10) then you have The Third Person of the Godhead, Holy Spirit, residing in you now! What an exciting thought! You should take some time to dwell and meditate on that.

Here is what Jesus told His disciples in John chapter 16 verses 7 & 13, “Nevertheless I tell you the truth. It is to your advantage that I go away; for if I do not go away, the Helper will not come to you; but if I depart, I will send Him to you.” And, “However, when He, the Spirit of truth, has come, He will guide you into all truth; for He will not speak on His own authority, but whatever He hears He will speak; and He will tell you things to come.”

That’s excites me, doesn’t it you? We have the Third Person of The Godhead in us and He will guide us into all Truth and tell us things to come. In order for Holy Spirit to guide us we must yield to Him.

We need to be more spirit-conscious than we are body-conscious. Sometimes we are more mental-conscious because we live more in the mental realm. If we are going to be led by the Spirit of God, we must become more spirit-conscious, or we’ll miss out on the whole thing. God’s Spirit leads us through our spirit. Remember this verse, “The Spirit Himself bears witness with our spirit that we are children of God.” (Romans 8:14) Let’s become more conscious of the inward man.

Let’s always be conscience of the Truth that He is not just with us but also actually in us. And His desire is to fulfill in your life what Jesus sent Him here to do. His desire is to guide you into all the truth concerning your personal life. He is available to you all the time. He knows every thing about your job. Always be mindful of Him and inquire of Him regularly throughout your day. You will find that you are able to do your job even better because your getting His insight into everything you need to do.

Be encouraged today!  The Father loves you dearly!  He loves to be involved with every detail of your life.  However, it is difficult sometimes to include Him in everything.  We tend to forget how much He wants to be involved.  Let’s look at 1 John 4:16.  “And we have known and believed the love that God has for us.  God is love, and he who abides in love abides in God, and God in him.”

We know He loves us.  We know He loves everyone.  But the Holy Spirit through John says here that we have known and believed the love He has for us.  We tend to forget how real and individual His love is to us.  He loves you!  Include Him in your day to day affairs.  He longs to be apart of your life.  His strength is available.  His wisdom is available.  If you haven’t been doing this, fear not, He is not mad at you.  He doesn’t hold grudges.

Just begin to keep Him in the forefront of your thinking.  You can do your job and think on Him at the same time.  In fact you’ll find that you will do your job even better.  While your thinking on Him He will get involved in what your doing.  You will begin to get insight and wisdom concerning your job.  It delights Him to cause you to be successful!  He loves to see His kids flourish.

Trena and I love and pray for you!  If you would like us to join our faith with yours concerning a prayer need, contact us.  We will join our faith with yours and we will see results.  Because God is good and He loves you!  God BLESS you!!!

What’s Love Got To Do With It? Everything!

If you have been born again you received salvation because you heard the Word of God concerning salvation and God gave you the faith to receive His salvation.  Romans 10:17 says, “So then faith comes by hearing, and hearing by the word of God.”  God is love and you responded to Love Himself.  Romans 5:5 says, “…the love of God has been poured out in our hearts by the Holy Spirit who was given to us.”  So as a result of responding to Love you received Him (God, who is love).

In the letter written to the Galatians Paul said by the Holy Spirit that faith works through love.  Now if we are honest with ourselves we will notice that sometimes our faith is not operating like it should.  And most of the time it is because of a violation of Love.  Walking in Love is so important and often so overlooked.  It is one of the last instructions given to us by Jesus before He went to the cross.

Jesus said, “A new commandment I give to you, that you love one another; as I have loved you, that you also love one another.  By this all will know that you are my disciples, if you have love for one another.” (John 13:34-35)  The way the world is going to know that we are His disciples is by the way you and I love each other.  By the way fellow christians treat each other.  Not by our church sign.  Not by our “christian bumper sticker.”  Not by our denomination.  But by the way I treat you and you treat me (fellow christians).

When we don’t conduct our lives based on Love it hinders the working of our faith.  It is not a question of whether or not you have faith, the question is why isn’t working.  You can have dormant faith.  But we have the faith we need or we wouldn’t have been able to receive salvation.  And we have the Love of God because it was deposited into us at salvation.  So we have what we need to receive everything that God has for our lives.

You can do this!  God has equipped you to walk in Love.  He gave you His love.  He gave you His faith.  He gave you His Spirit.  If you haven’t been walking in love lately don’t allow the enemy to condemn you.  Don’t condemn yourself.  Just confess it and God will forgive you and cleanse you from all unrighteousness.  If God is for you who can be against you? Another way of saying that is, if Love is for you who can be against you!

James 1: 2-8

2 My brethren, count it all joy when you fall into various trials, 3 knowing that the testing of your faith produces patience. 4 But let patience have its perfect work, that you may be perfect and complete, lacking nothing. 5 If any of you lacks wisdom, let him ask of God, who gives to all liberally and without reproach, and it will be given to him. 6 But let him ask in faith, with no doubting, for he who doubts is like a wave of the sea driven and tossed by the wind. 7 For let not that man suppose that he will receive anything from the Lord; 8 he is a double-minded man, unstable in all his ways.

When trouble comes your way what is the first thing you do? Well, according the scripture we are to “count it all joy.” Now that’s not the easiest thing to do. More than likely, your flesh and your emotions will not want to co-operate. But if you’ve been born from above, you’re equipped to do this. You can praise God right in the face of the trial and count it all joy.

As you are counting it all joy you can know that the testing of you faith is going to produce patience in your life. Then, by His grace you can let patience have its perfect work and you will be complete and lacking nothing.

Then the Holy Spirit says, “If any of you lacks wisdom, let him ask of God, who gives to all liberally and without reproach, and it will be given to him.”

Is the Holy Spirit changing the subject here?  Lack wisdom about what?  About the trouble we are facing.  We don’t have to go through our situation completely blind. We can get the wisdom of God concerning our situation. In fact, the Word tells us in Proverbs that wisdom is the principle thing. (Proverbs 4:7)

God is a God of wisdom.  The Spirit of God is called the Spirit of Wisdom.  The Word is called the Wisdom of God.  A lot of failure in life is due to a lack of operating in wisdom.  He told us to get wisdom.  He wouldn’t tell me to get it if it wasn’t available to me.  And since He said, “get it”, it means it’s not just going to fall on me.  I have to go get it.  Could we use some more wisdom?  Yes.

So whatever trouble or trial you may be facing, there is wisdom concerning it.  Go to His Word and find out what He has to say about your situation.  Also, get quiet in prayer and listen.  Allow Him to speak to you.  I don’t mean you’ll hear an audible voice.  Let’s look at what Jesus says about you being able to hear Him.

To him the doorkeeper opens, and the sheep hear his voice; and he calls his own sheep by name and leads them out. And when he brings out his own sheep, he goes before them; and the sheep follow him, for they know his voice. Yet they will by no means follow a stranger, but will flee from him, for they do not know the voice of strangers. (John 10:3-5)

And other sheep I have which are not of this fold; them also I must bring, and they will hear My voice; and there will be one flock and one shepherd.  (John 10:16)  My sheep hear My voice, and I know them, and they follow Me.  (John 10:27)  If Jesus said just once that we could hear Him that would be enough.  But five times He speaks of His sheep hearing Him.

So get your Bible and get quiet before the Lord and ask for wisdom concerning your situation and He says He will give you the wisdom you need.  But don’t go to Him doubting.  Know that He loves you and longs to be involved in your life!

We love you and are praying for you.  If you would like us to join our faith with yours concerning any prayer need contact us and give us your prayer request and we will believe God with you!

James 1:2-8

In John 16:33 Jesus said, “These things I have spoken to you, that in Me you may have peace. In the world you will have tribulation; but be of good cheer, I have overcome the world.” In order to have this peace we must be “in Christ.” If you have been born from above then you have full access to more peace than you will ever need! Wow, that is good news!

But having access to this peace doesn’t mean you will automatically enjoy it. And just because you have access to this peace does not mean that you will not experience any trouble. Jesus said as long as you are in this world there will be trouble. He goes on to say to be of good cheer. The Holy Spirit echo’s that through James when He said, “count it all joy when you experience various trials.

The testing of your faith will produce patience. But we must let patience have its complete work. When trouble comes we must stay steady. As soon as we recognize the trial we must be steady. Don’t let it shock you! Don’t allow any negative emotions take control of you. You take control of your emotions. How do we do this? By praising God! Put the Word of God that concerns your situation in your mouth.

Remember that patience is being consistently constant. It’s not being moved by what we see. Patience won’t let the circumstances dictate how we are going to act. We have to choose to let patience work. On purpose, we won’t be focused on the problem. We will look to Jesus who is the Author and Finisher of our faith. If we stay focused on the trial, it won’t take long before we start believing that the trial is bigger than our God. But the more you fix your gaze on God the smaller your trial becomes.

The benefit in doing this is we will become mature and complete, lacking nothing. I don’t know what you’re going through today, but I know that if you will let patience have its perfect work in you, you will lack nothing. You have all the power you need. If you’ve been born from above then the Holy Spirit lives on the inside of you! Greater is He that is in you than He that is in the world.

The Third Person of the Godhead lives on the inside of you. You have more power on the inside of you than you will ever be able to use in your whole lifetime. He has equipped you to handle anything and everything that crosses your path.

So, let patience work in you. Be still and know that God is right there in your situation. The presence of a problem is not an indication of the absence of God. He said He would never leave us or forsake us.

We love you and are praying for you! If you would like us to join our faith with yours contact us by emailing us. We will believe God with you concerning your situation. And also contact us with your testimony so we can enjoy your victory with you! In the next blog we will be discussing manifested wisdom in our situations. God bless you!!!

 James 1:2-8

In the last blog we talked about counting it all joy when you fall into various trials.  When we face trials the first thing we should do is count it all joy.  Easy to type, much harder to actually do!  But the Holy Spirit through James told us to do this.  And with the command comes the ability to do the command.  We can do all things through Christ who strengthens us.

James 1:2-3 is one sentence.  My brethren, count it all joy when you fall into various trials, knowing that the testing of your faith produces patience.  Step two in the test is, “we are to know something”.  Know that patience will be produced out of this.  But I must not neglect step one.  Joy!  The joy of the Lord will be your strength in this trial.  And it’s not about feelings.  Open your mouth with words of joy and not complaint.  And keep in mind step two while your doing this.  You know that your faith is being tested and it is producing patience.

Patience is not just putting up with something.  It means to be consistently constant.  It means that no matter what comes your way you are not moved.  You don’t lose it.  Anger doesn’t get the best of you.  Grief is not allowed to set in.  Depression can’t find a way in to your soul.  You stay on God’s Word concerning your situation and refuse to be swayed off of the Word.

In times of testing it is critical what we allow to come out of our mouths.  Take the Word of God concerning your situation and speak that instead of speaking the problem or test.  Give praise and worship to the Lord!  Right in the middle of the test lift your voice to God and know patience is being produced in you right now!

If you have a prayer request or praise report contact us by email here on our website.  I will join my faith with yours and I believe we will get results because God is good and He answers prayer.  And I would love to hear from you about what God is doing in your life and be able to praise God with you.  We love you and are praying for you every day!
